As Optical research progresses, better specialist equipment is available to us, like our OCT scanner. OCT, or Optical Coherence Tomography, is similar to an ultrasound scan and can sift through the many layers at the back of the eye to enable us to see if your retina is healthy.
The scan also helps us in the identification of potential eye problems, (including serious sight-impairing conditions) up to five years before they would normally be detected, so treatment can be commenced at an earlier stage. This fantastic tool can be used to detect signs of: High blood pressure, Glaucoma, AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration) and Diabetes as well as other medical conditions.
Currently offered free of charge as part of your sight test – where our Optician recommends it – the OCT experience is painless and quick, and together with our range of other diagnostic equipment and a thorough sight test, provides you with the best possible eye-care.
Our Optometrists are highly qualified and experienced, and are always happy to provide further information and answer any questions you may have during your eye examination.
